A genuine entrepreneur, my business journey began working within the family large ticket retail business after finishing a Business Studies A level. Over 15 years I was instrumental in building that business from a single branch to 5 branches turning over £5.5m and achieving above industry margins. As I became Sales Director by role was all encompassing allowing me considerable experience in the following areas:
– Business strategy and Protocols
– Cashflow Forecast and Stockturn
– Range Planning and Procurement
– Staff Training and Sales Initiatives
– Interior design and POS
– Project managing shop fits and external events
– Transactional Web Design and Operation
I established a stand alone Marketing Dept within the business to improve and maintain it’s digital outreach, drive sales and provide content for the socials. This department also subcontracted for related local business’. By developing a structured marketing diary we were able to clearly deliver a shared brand message, achieve seasonal sales targets and refine costs whilst allowing much needed head space for management. I sold the business in 2018 for £2.2m
It was a natural further step to expand on my property portfolio on my journey to becoming a large portfolio private landlord. I took advice from two experienced BTL mentors and establishing my own power team of local solicitors, estate agents, mortgage advisors and maintenance contractors. Being thorough in the due diligence process has resulted in acquiring appreciating assets that has allowed me to weather the most recent hike in borrowing rates. I manage all the properties myself and specialize in providing a high standard of accommodations allowing me to achieve higher rental yields in my focussed respective urban area’s.
Having been part of the Trade Mastermind team early on, gave me much insight into both how to successfully conduct business in the construction industry. My mentorship journey began here where I was able to use my business experience and TM’s blueprint to develop the companies and brands of clients all over the UK.
In addition, I’ve now diversified into the car trade and have experience in both buying, re conditioning and of course selling across sub £100k stock. This business makes it’s money at the purchasing stage so knowing what to pay and when is key to my success in this industry.
In my varied career, I’ve developed an acute attention to detail, a high level of organisation and a solid worth ethic. I find it rewarding to impart my experience on many of our clients whilst providing a fresh viewpoint over the commonplace challenges day to day business presents.
